For the Second Year, Homelessness Declines Across Los Angeles
I’m encouraged to see continued progress in our fight against homelessness. The 2025 Los Angeles Homeless Count shows a 4% decrease in homelessness across LA County and a 3.4% decrease in the City of Los Angeles.
For the second year in a row, the numbers are moving in the right direction — and that’s no accident. That’s the result of relentless effort from agencies, nonprofit partners, and community leaders working together to confront one of the most urgent challenges facing our region.
The data underscores what we already know: progress is possible, and it’s measurable.
27,994 individuals were placed in permanent housing — up 2.5% from last year
2,960 new permanent housing units were created
11,146 people moved from interim to permanent housing — a 23.5% increase
The sheltered population rose 8.5% in LA County and 4.7% in the City of Los Angeles
At Weingart Center, we see the impact every day.
Through our interim and permanent supportive housing developments, we’re not only providing shelter — we’re offering a foundation for stability, connection, and long-term success.
I’m proud of the role Weingart continues to play in this collective effort, and I remain committed to ensuring that our progress continues.
